These are whimsical paintings of animals I encounter daily. There are some loose references to the folk arts of various cultures including my own, Celtic and Greek.
Mostly they are celebrations of the movement, play and harmony between all animal spirits and ourselves.

All my landscapes are views I see everyday, in and around my part of Nova Scotia. They are a diary of the mood, atmosphere and changing texture of a much loved place . I will often paint the same view over and over again, each time with a different energy and heart.
My prints, including etching and monoprints are explorations of the intimate nature of observation and meaning. These works are mostly translations of drawings done directly from the subject; observations through a window, objects tossed on a table, or figures from a model sessions. I wade through my sketchbooks and wait for a certain gesture or line, or even a memory of the specific drawing process to move me, and then the act of recreation begins. I hope the etchings retain some of the initial spontaneity of that first observed line layered with the quiet resolution the etching process brings.

A number of selected drawings from figure drawing sessions over the last several years. My favorites are the simple and expressive poses.
A recent exploration of drawing with soft pastel and conte crayon. It is harder to create the detail of pencil work but there is an overall expressive quality and stylistic strength to these works.
Some examples of my illustration and poster work done intermittently for local theatres and arts organizations.
